Jhon Douglas

Brasil

Description

Jhon Douglas (1988, Vilhena, BR) is an artist who moves between music, visual arts, and performance.
His earliest musical influences were the "sertanejo" songs listened to and sung by his father and grandfather in his hometown—a city established in the early 20th century in the Brazilian Amazon as part of a national integration project. However, it was the soundtracks of skate videos that first hinted at a personal taste — forged through VHS tapes and DVDs shared among friends and the experience of skating on the asphalt of that concrete city surrounded by forest.

From Rondônia to Paraná, trough Paraguay, and eventually arriving in Lisbon (where he has lived since 2016), his journey has been defined by self-taught artistry and street culture, striking a chord between "nature" and the urban landscape.
In Portugal, he has established himself as one of the most active Brazilian voices in the contemporary Lusophone scene, performing on stages and festivals with work that refuses to be confined by conventional boundaries.

Following the EP "MATO" (2019), the album "Jhon Douglas JungleBoys & Maritacas"(2022), and the provocative "Artista Chinelo" (2024), Jhon launches a new phase with the album "Jhon Douglas de Vilhena" (2026), a return to his roots, to the raw act of creation, and to the unadorned spoken word. His music, now even rawer and more direct, reveals the artist in his essential state.
